WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

Chiropractic principles have been known and applied by civilization for thousands of years, but the first modern chiropractic adjustment was performed by D. D. Palmer on a deaf janitor named Harvey Lillard in Davenport, Iowa, 1895. Lillard’s hearing returned and Palmer originally thought that he had discovered a cure for deafness. Patients with heart problems, stomach ailments, menstrual troubles, migraine headaches, allergies, the flu, epilepsy, and back pain also responded to Palmer’s adjustments. Palmer soon understood that his treatments enabled people to recover by tapping into the innate self-healing capacity of their own bodies. Palmer also realized that his discovery was not new. This ancient and vitalistic principle recognizes that there is an intelligent, organizing force within all of us. When this life force flows freely through the brain and nervous system, we are able to fully express our optimum life potential and healing capabilities. Interference to the flow of this life force results in physiological illness and a lack of ease or “dis-ease”. A clear and flexible spinal system enables us to live a fuller life physically, mentally, and spiritually.

VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATIONS

A vertebral subluxation is a spinal impingement that causes interference with nerve messages between your brain and your body. Vertebral subluxations occur when we experience an overload of physical, emotional, mental or chemical stress. Because subluxations directly affect the nervous system, the consequence of the is unresolved neurological conflict affects all physiological function, as well as thoughts, feelings, actions, and behaviors.

Hidden away in the inner nature of the real man is the law of his life and some day he will make use of it. He will heal himself, make himself happy and prosperous and will live in an entirely different world for he will have discovered that life is from within and not from without.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Chiropractic adjustments release interferences in the spinal system, freeing the wisdom of the body so that the power of the life force within can flow to every cell of the body.

The goal of chiropractic care is to reduce or correct tension and subluxations in the spinal system. This empowers the spinal system to better express the body’s organizing intelligence and vital life force, enabling a fuller experience of health.

Living in harmony with natural rhythms allows a free passage of biological information and intelligence, while living in opposition to those rhythms fosters disorder at the molecular level and discomfort at the level of everyday experience.
